The Secretary of State today told the Secretary of the Treasury that the latter had full jurisdiction in war debt matters.
This statement was made by the Secretary of State in the course of a conversation which had not previously touched on war debt matters or on questions of the respective jurisdictions of the Departments.
The Secretary of the Treasury definitely noted the statement as disposing of a question which had not previously been discussed. He took occasion to say that the Department of State has given the Treasury Department better cooperation in all matters of Treasury interest than any other Department has done.
