The Minister in Yugoslavia (Wilson) to the Secretary of State

11. In conversation with Prime Minister he stated that while appreciating extreme gravity of European situation he is optimistic of eventual peaceful solution. Nevertheless in case of failure Yugoslavia like other Little and Balkan Entente countries must give France full and unqualified support. Yugoslav economic life has been seriously disrupted by sanctions against Italy which were adopted most reluctantly and Government is therefore greatly alarmed and opposed to possibility of being forced to adopt similar action against Germany its next most important customer with which its profitable commercial relations have been showing constant improvement.
