The Belgian Ambassador (Van Straten) to the Secretary of State

Mr. Secretary of State: By your letter dated the twenty-seventh of this month,32 Your Excellency was kind enough to send me a new [Page 124] draft for the general provisions which are to complete the Commercial Agreement recently concluded between our two countries.

I have the honor of advising Your Excellency that I have forwarded this proposal to the King’s Government. As soon as the latter advises me of its point of view on this subject, I shall hasten to inform Your Excellency thereof, and I hope, as you do, that the last phase of our commercial negotiations will be terminated very shortly.
