The Secretary of State to the Consul at Port Said (Remillard)
Legation at Addis Ababa is making tentative arrangements for evacuation to Port Said of 10 indigent American negro citizens and [Page 879] will consult you as to best date for their arrival to make steamer connections. Department understands that you can obtain transportation third class to New York on Italian line for $135 per person. Make tentative reservations at this or any lower rate. In due course you will be authorized to draw not exceeding $1450 covering their transportation to New York and necessary expenses awaiting sailing.
