The Acting Secretary of State to the Administrator of the National Recovery Administration ( Johnson )
Sir: I enclose for your information and any action deemed appropriate a circular40 of the American League for the Defense of Jewish Rights, 729 Seventh Avenue, New York City, bearing the emblem of the National Recovery Administration and advocating a boycott of German goods.
The enclosed circular was brought to the attention of this Department by the Germany Embassy in Washington, at the instance of the German Government, and representations were made regarding the use of the “Blue Eagle” thereon.
I shall appreciate advices as to any action that may be taken regarding this matter.
The German Embassy requests the return of the enclosed circular for its files.41
