The British Ambassador (Lindsay) to the Secretary of State
Sir: With further reference to your Note No. 862.51/3782 of December 29th regarding the treatment of foreign loans by the German Government I have the honour, under instructions from His Majesty’s [Page 334] Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, to inform you that His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom have noted with satisfaction the attitude of the United States Government on this question.
Instructions have been sent to His Majesty’s Ambassador in Berlin to keep in touch with his United States colleague on this matter: to show him the text of the latest note addressed by His Majesty’s Government to the German Government: and to ask in return to be informed of the terms of the corresponding United States note. The Financial Adviser to His Majesty’s Embassy at Berlin has been authorised to discuss, if necessary, technical details with his United States colleague.
