The Canadian Legation to the Department of State

Memorandum

Bill No. H. R. 3842, “to provide for the deportation of certain alien seamen and for other purposes”, was reported to the House of Representatives by the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization on February 7th 1934. This Bill is identical with measures for the same object which have been introduced in previous Congresses; a similar Bill is pending before the Senate.2

The Canadian Legation desires to direct attention to its memorandum of January 27th 1932,3 in which the views of the Government of Canada on this measure were brought to the attention of the Department of State. The terms of this memorandum may be considered as applying to H. R. 3842.
