Referring to my cable of April 27, 4 p.m., British Chargé d’Affaires has had a reply from London informing him that the Sudan Government considers it premature to press at this time for a conference. Chargé d’Affaires does not intend to say anything to the Ethiopians unless further instructed. In connection with this delay please see my despatch No. 657 of March 7th16 and related despatches.
