34. Department’s 19, April 12, 6 p.m.,55 states confidentially that Greek Minister informed Department that Struma Valley contract will be given to American concern. As effort is now being made to prevent American concern from obtaining contract, it will be extremely helpful if I may be authorized immediately to mention this promise to Government and to state that we rely upon Government to make promise good.
