The substance of your 53, December 6, 3 p.m., was communicated to Firestone who has written to the Department expressing his disagreement with the views of the Liberian Government, but stating that he wishes the matter kept in abeyance until his arrival in Monrovia the latter part of January. Department agrees that this course offers the best opportunity for an amicable solution of the difficulties which have arisen.
