The Norwegian Minister (Bryn) to the Secretary of State
Sir: With reference to my note to Your Excellency’s predecessor, dated April 21, 1922,8 I hereby have the honor, acting under instructions from my Government, to inform the Government of the United States of the fact that the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (Det Norske Meteorologiske Institut) has, with a view to permanent occupation, extended its annexation on the Arctic island Jan Mayen, mentioned in my above note, so that the annexation of the Institute is now comprising the entire island of Jan Mayen.
