The Minister in Guatemala ( Geissler ) to the Secretary of State

Sir: I have the honor to report, that, following the receipt of the Department’s cable No. 30, of April 28, 1 p.m.,6 I mentioned to the President of Guatemala, in the course of an informal conversation, the mission of General Eulogio Flores in Honduras, and President Orellana assured me that the influence of the Government of Guatemala will not be used to impose any candidate for the Presidency or any political party in Honduras and that he is in entire accord with the hope of the Department of State that the problem of the neighboring Republic may be solved by agreement between the factions or by holding a free election.
