40. Referring to the Department’s telegram of April 28, 1 p.m., number 15.
I have interviewed all the Presidential candidates and all have signified their willingness to accept my plan for a conference and discuss thoroughly the present political situation of the country and try to reach an agreement whereby peace will be assured later. The conference will be held immediately upon arrival of Doctor Arias at Tegucigalpa, who is expected Thursday or Friday of this week.
The President will also attend conference.
I shall keep the Department advised by telegraph of the outcome.
