217. General Chin Yun Peng named acting premier, Cabinet not yet announced. Japanese Minister publicly states that he has given due protection in Legation to nine Chinese including Hsu Shu Cheng and other Anfus in consideration of international practice well established especially in China, but has warned them not to concern themselves in politics and has completely isolated them.
