I have this morning presented to the Minister for Foreign Affairs a note according to the instructions contained in your 1077, September 5, 3 p.m., and 1122, September 13, 8 p.m. Before doing so I consulted my colleagues who all advised me to wait no longer as they feared there would be great delay before all our different instructions could be brought into conformity.
[Page 1291]The Minister for Foreign Affairs said he would send me the statistics asked for as soon as possible, but that he would be unable to comply with the request for the text of any agreement with Germany. I do not think this last point need be pressed as the Minister for Foreign Affairs gave me clearly to understand that the coal agreement which expires September 30 was the only one still binding.
