3680. Consul at Singapore telegraphs following:
Information shows Dutch steamer Tjikembang, en route Manila to Java ports, was brought Singapore July 5 by British naval authorities and Manila mails searched. Replies to inquiries addressed local officials apparently indefinitely delayed. Also mails from Manila, Spanish steamer Eizaguirre, searched this port July 27.
Please communicate to Foreign Office with appropriate protest.
