I learn privately from an official source Madrid P. & O. liner Arabia was torpedoed yesterday in the Mediterranean on her [Page 309] homeward trip with 483 passengers including 160 women and children. It is known that 160 passengers were saved and that a gale was raging at the time. Other details are-lacking. This information has not yet been given to the press.
