The veterans now demand dismissal of “traitors” from judiciary and elective offices as well as from the civil service. Bill to suspend the civil service law¹ has passed the House and will probably pass the Senate to-day.

The Speaker, Ferrara, in answering the argument that the bill was contrary to the Platt amendment, claimed that as Cuba had adopted the amendment under coercion it was not binding upon her.
