File No. 412.11/36.
The Secretary of State to the American Ambassador.
Washington, November 21, 1911.
Renew request for extension of time for filing claims before Claims Commission to January 1, 1912. The time originally fixed [Page 948] seems to the Department too short, as claimants naturally first presented their claims to this Government, and some have not been able to present claims after receiving definite information regarding the Commission, and furthermore the Department has been unable, after consulting claimants concerning their desires as to submission of claims to the Commission, to forward them to the Embassy within the fixed time. The short extension suggested by the Department would, in its opinion, permit the presentation of claims by all those wishing to present them, and would avoid any possible difficulties regarding them.
