Sir: The Department has received your No. 1306, of the 12th instant, containing the substance of your interview with President Madero on the preceding day, and approves your action in detailing to him the grave complications which would result from the strike of American employees on the National Railways which would follow the Government’s carrying out of its announced intention to enforce the use of the Spanish language in all train orders.

The Department is gratified by the President’s attitude in consenting to order the indefinite postponement of the issuance of the contemplated order regarding the use of the Spanish language, and hopes that the President’s orders will be effective.

You will continue to watch the railway situation closely and report all important developments by telegraph.
