Acting Secretary of State Bacon to Minister Rockhill.
[Telegram—Paraphrase.]
Department of State,
Washington, July 13, 1906.
Washington, July 13, 1906.
(Mr. Rockhill is informed that Consul-General Lay has wired that the viceroy paid compensation for the losses at Lienchou, as claimed. The department assumes that this settlement will not preclude claims [Page 320] as stated in its telegram to Mr. Rockhill of June 8. These claims are about to be presented, being now in a final form. Mr. Bacon requests an immediate reply.)
