No. 541.
Mr. Christiancy to Mr. Blaine.

No. 276.]

Sir: Referring to my dispatch No. 256 (second paragraph), in which I stated, in substance, upon report, among other things, that the Chilians had taken from the exposition grounds, belonging to the Benevolent Society of Lima, the collection of animals there, I have now to make this correction, viz: That these animals had not then been taken (a few days since), but preparations had been made to take them, and the cages were already taken to the grounds, in which they were to be shipped, and there is no doubt they will be taken.

I have, &c.,

I. P. CHRISTIANCY.
