Sir: Adverting to your complaint of the 25th of July last, relative to the crossing into Mexico of a sheriff and party, and the capturing of a fugitive criminal who was brought back into this country, I have now the honor to inform you that the Acting Secretary of the Interior has advised this Department, under date of the 9th instant, that the governor of Arizona Territory had been instructed to investigate the subject, and to take all proper measures for the punishment of any guilty persons, and for preservation of peace along the frontier.
