Sir: Referring to my reply of the 17th ultimo, to your note of the 23d of November last, in relation to an alleged attack by Indians from the United States upon a party of Stony Indians of Canada, I now have the honor to inform you that I have received a letter from my colleague, the Secretary of the Interior, dated the 28th ultimo, in which he says that an investigation has been ordered by the Indian Office, with a view to the discovery and punishment of those who may be found guilty of the outrage in question.
