Mr. Rush, Acting Secretary of State, to Mr. Glenn, district attorney.
March 18, 1817.
Sir: I have the honor to send to you herewith the copy of a list of articles stated to have been taken by the private armed vessel the Potosi from the Spanish ship Oiencia, which list has been communicated to this office by the Chevalier de Onis, His Catholic Majesty’s representative, with a request that the necessary instructions should be forwarded to the law-officer of the Government at Baltimore, to afford his aid to the Spanish consul there, in the attachment which he had laid upon a part of these articles in the hands of Henry Didier. You will please, therefore, to render your official aid to the Spanish consul in the above case, as far as circumstances may, in your judgment, make it necessary and proper.
- RICHARD RUSH,
Acting Secretary of State. - Elias Glenn,
Attorney of the United States,
For the District of Maryland, Baltimore.
