275. Editorial Note

President and Mrs. Johnson arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 10:11 a.m. on October 30, 1966, on Air Force One. During the 2-hour flight from Bangkok, Thailand, the President met with Secretary Rusk, Clark Clifford, Walt Rostow, and Bill Moyers. No record of this meeting has been found. Most of the President’s and his delegation’s time in Malaysia was spent in ceremonial activities. According to the Daily Diary, the President did not have any private meetings with Malaysian Government leaders although during the State Dinner on the evening of October 30 at Parliament House, he and Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman “talked a good bit.” The President and his delegation left Malaysia at 7:40 a.m. the morning of October 31.
