After consideration of a resolution proposed by Brazil, Lebanon, Mexico, and the Netherlands calling upon the occupying powers to reach agreement on an Austrian Treaty, Committee I (Political and Security) of the United Nations adopted the resolution by a vote of 48–0–2. The plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly approved the resolution on December 20. For the statement made by Benjamin V.
