FonMin’s proposal [Page 1167] receiving urgent and earnest consideration by Dept, but do not believe suggestions of this type shld interfere with or delay consideration of present six-power draft res.

Any similar proposals put forward by other dels shld be promptly transmitted to Dept. While not commenting thereon, by questioning you shld develop concepts behind such proposals. Questions shld include such details whether any neutral strip wld be equally applicable to Chi side of frontier, who wld administer neutral zone, basis of possible acceptability to Chi Commies, whether it wld provide base for continued existence of rump NK regime, etc.
