1754. Embassy welcomes public announcement re Korea by President noting modifications original statement contained Deptel 541,1 June 27. In our view this firm stand exactly what is necessary to serve notice to Soviets that Communists have gone too far. Needless to say US action will prove tremendous influence all areas threatened by Communist aggression, and effects in Asia should become manifest shortly.
