2096. Ward informed me this morning Stokes had been taken court 9 a. m. without warrant for hearing re “spying charges” which Ward connected with June 21 report⁷⁹ but whether as accused or witness or in other capacity unindicated to Americans. Ward was refused permission accompany.

Will phone Mukden each schedule until Stokes returns.
