Editorial Note

On February 2, the United Nations Commission on Korea (UNCOK), established by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 195 (III) of December 12, 1948, held its first meeting in Seoul. The report of UNCOK, covering the period January 30 to July 28 is printed in two volumes: a narrative (U.N. document A/936) and a documentary annex (U.N. document A/936/Add.1). A complete list of documents of UNCOK is printed in A/936/Add.1, pages 53–62.

The Commission consisted of representatives of the following United Nations member states: Australia, China, El Salvador, France, India, the Philippines, and Syria. The representative of Syria left Seoul on March 26 and was not present when the report was drafted and adopted.
