At its meeting on October 21, the Ad Hoc Committee adopted resolutions calling for appointment of three subcommittees, one the Subcommittee on conciliation to find common ground by the. Jewish Agency and the Arab Higher Committee on the future of Palestine; one to draw up a detailed plan based on the majority proposals of UNSCOP, as called for in the draft United States resolution and the Canadian amendment; and one to draw up a detailed plan for the recognition of Palestine as an independent unitary state as proposed by Saudi Arabia and Iraq (agenda item 3) and endorsed in a draft resolution proposed by Syria.
