The Associate Chief of the Division of Japanese and Korean Economic Affairs (Whitman) to Mr. Donald G. Badger, Economic Secretary of the Far Eastern Commission
My Dear Mr. Badger: I believe members of the Inter-Allied Trade Board for Japan should be advised that the Supreme Commander for [Page 357] the Allied Powers has notified the War Department he wishes to ascertain trade possibilities between Japan and other countries, particularly those not represented in Tokyo. Information as to commodities desired from Japan and commodities available for sale to Japan with estimates of quantities in each case should be received in Tokyo as soon as possible since foreign trade programs for 1947 are now being prepared.
Sincerely yours,
