I. Report by the Deputies

The Council adopted the Deputies’ Report submitted by the Chairman in office, and approved the order of the questions referred to it for consideration.

II. United Nations Property in Italy

1.
Compensation for losses sustained (C.F.M.(D) (46) 177, Appendix III, Part II, 2)33
The Council agreed that in principle compensation should be paid for losses sustained, the question of the amount of such compensation to be discussed later.
2.
Settlement of Disputes (C.F.M.(D) (46) 177, Appendix III, Part II, 3)
This question was referred back to the Deputies to consider new proposals which would be made to them.

III. Italian Property in the Territory of Allied and Associated Powers (C.F.M.(D) (46)177, Art. 71)34

The Council decided in principle that such property could be kept by the nation concerned, the Economic Committee to study the detailed application of this decision, taking into consideration the views expressed by the Ministers.

IV. Renunciation of Claims (C.F.M.(D) (46)177, Art. 68)35

The Council adopted the principle of renunciation of claims by the Italian Government, the Deputies to submit a final wording for this clause.

V. General Economic Clauses (C.F.M.(D) (46) 177, Appendix IV, Part I)36

In paragraph 1 of Part I the Council decided to fix the time limit at eighteen months.

In paragraph 2 the Council decided to delete the brackets enclosing the word “unconditional”.

In paragraph 4 the Council agreed in principle to add the phrase proposed by the Soviet Delegation, subject to examination of its wording by the Economic Committee. The U.S. Delegation announced that it would supply the Experts with a draft text on this point.

VI. Next Meetings

It was agreed that the Deputies would meet at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, 18th June to decide the remaining items on the Council agenda.

The next Council meeting to be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, 18th June.
