233. Embtel No. 230 July 3.³⁶ Conversations with Albanian[s?] here fail to substantiate rumors re Yugo-Albanian federation.

Acting Chief of the small Albanian Military Mission told Fraleigh³⁷ “Albania isn’t interested in federation but wants only freedom and friendship with her neighbors and great allies”. He said trouble on Greek border is largely a “newspaper war”; that Albania is not concerned greatly about border problems, relying on peace conference for fair settlement.

Albanian Diplomatic Mission expected in Belgrade soon.
