38. For Berry. American Interests—Rumania. Reurtel 34 November 27.14 To extent your facilities permit you are hereby authorized to accept messages from American nationals to be forwarded to Department in paraphrase by airgram.
With regard to possible repatriation of American nationals in Rumania, please discuss question with AmPolad, and ascertain the views of the Allied Control Commission and appropriate Rumanian authorities, keeping Department informed of all developments, particularly difficulties to be overcome, in order that it may at any given moment be able to assess current situation and handle inquiries adequately. Department has drawn up list of priorities for use in connection with eventual repatriation of American nationals from Italy which you should obtain from AmPolad for use in registering applicants appearing before you.
