1023. Following from the War Refugee Board for Intercross,63 Geneva.

“War Refugee Board urges in view of occupation of Hungary by Germany that effective representation be sent to Hungary by Intercross for the purpose of protecting the well being of groups facing persecution there.”64

  2. In response to this request, the Red Cross declined to send any special delegation as such a mission might be considered as inconsistent with its traditional functions. In telegram 1806, May 25, 1 p.m., the Minister in Switzerland was again requested to convey to the Red Cross the “urgent hope of this Government that the special delegation requested in our 1023 be sent immediately to Hungary.” (840.48 Refugees/5612)
