422. Your 10119 and 1028, February 13. The Department greatly appreciates the efforts of the Swiss authorities in seeking amelioration of the conditions of the internment and its postponement until the camps are completed, and urgently requests that these efforts be continued, with especial emphasis on the points mentioned in your 1028.

Pending clarification of the negotiations now under way for the exchange of American and Japanese nationals it is hoped the Swiss authorities may obtain postponement of the mass internment.

Department would appreciate an urgent report on results above approach.
