The Secretary of State to the Chargé in Turkey ( Kelley )

566. Your 1084, October 29, 11 a.m. The Department approves your action in drawing Robert College taxation question to Foreign Minister’s attention. It would be particularly regretted if Turkish Government should change its policy towards the College now, when Turkish officers are attending the school and when United States War Department has manifested its desire to assist Turkey by assigning four qualified United States Army Officers as instructors there, at a time when their release from United States Army represented notable sacrifice.62
