232. I informed Vyshinski48 last night of the report regarding the recent attempt on Von Papen’s life as presented in the Department’s 122, March 14.49 Vyshinski expressed great appreciation, and said the information confirmed other reports reaching the Soviet Government indicative of efforts by Germany to provoke a conflict between Russia and Turkey.
