The Ambassador in Turkey (Steinhardt) to the Secretary of State

1373. The following telegram has been sent to the Legation at Cairo.

December 30, noon. Your December 29, 9 a.m.²

I see no present necessity for sending another B–24 to Turkey in substitution for the Liberator that is damaged at Aleppo provided our Army authorities in Cairo can give me definite assurances that the repairs to the damaged plane will actually be completed within 30 days and the plane returned at once thereafter to Eskisehir.³
