324. Your 540, April 6, 4 p.m. War Department states that all United States military activities in North Africa are under the command of General Maxwell with the exception of the policy and operational control of the Ferry Command which that Department desires to maintain in Washington and the duties of the Military Attaché. There is no prospect at present of any change in this arrangement.
With reference to Colonel Fellers, the War Department asserts that no actual military operations are contemplated at present.
