772. Your 1221, July 13, 9 a.m. Department is informed that General Spalding left Washington on July 14. The War Department is understood to have considerable information in addition to that furnished by Lockard regarding denial activities and plans respecting the oilfields under reference but the General was unable to acquaint himself with them prior to departure.
You and the Legation at Jidda are requested to facilitate General Spalding’s work in every possible way.
Local representative of Casoc has been informed and states that Dhahran will be advised to expect this visit.
