The Minister in Iran (Dreyfus) to the Secretary of State

145. Department’s 116, May 5 [6].72 Prime Minister informed me last night he had received a satisfactory reply from his appeal to Molotov reported in my 138, May 3. The reply states that Soviet military authorities have been instructed to collaborate with Iranian authorities with a view to sending Iranian troops to disturbed areas.

Minister of War73 and several other officials have already arrived in Azerbaijan to arrange the details with Soviet authorities.

A despatch on entire situation is being airmailed.
