“Gripsholm arrived 20th, Conte [and?] Asama 22d. Exchange operation accomplished 24th successfully under 4 hours. However, considerable confusion berthing, originally based lists our possession prior arrival necessitating complete reberthing program after exchange effected based on steamers official lists. Reberthing work terminated evening 26th. Order avoid similar extremely unpleasant occurrence which serious, necessary you arrange we return New York [as soon as possible] order report and rectify system exchange which otherwise perfect. Gripsholm sailed 28th, 1,510 aboard, details later. Your 6, yes.”
