Mr. T. K. Bewley, of the British Supply Council in North America, to the Assistant Secretary of State (Acheson)

Dear Dean: This is to let you know that my government has now proposed to the Chinese Government the appointment of Mr. Hall Patch46 as British member of the Stabilisation Board and that this proposal has been accepted by the Chinese Government.

The appointment would be on a temporary basis and the more permanent appointment would no doubt be the subject of discussion with Sir O. E. Niemeyer.

I have also informed Mr. Cochran47 of the appointment.

Yours sincerely,

T. K. Bewley
  1. Financial Adviser of the British Embassy in China until 1939.
  2. H. Merle Cochran, Technical Assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury.
