255. Department’s 110, June 24,¹⁶ and Vichy’s 762, June 28. Apostolic Delegate told me this afternoon that he telegraphed to the Vatican on June 20, in the sense reported by me, and that he added I would telegraph Washington on the subject. Could we perhaps inquire in Rome?
