2194. From Hopkins.75 Poland included under lend-lease.76 We are now trying to get equipment required for training purposes in Canada. Please advise Sikorski and give him my warm regards.

President Roosevelt announced on September 4, 1941, that he had authorized the transfer of various defense articles to the Government of Poland under the Lend-Lease Act, and declared that the resistance of Polish forces was “vital to the defense of the United States.” For text of announcement, see Department of State Bulletin, September 6, 1941, p. 181.
