The Minister Resident in Iraq (Knabenshue) to the Secretary of State

123. I was informed today by the chief British intelligence officer that the Regent called the members of the Cabinet to him yesterday and declared to them that the best interests of the state required their immediate resignations. The Prime Minister replied that he would consider the matter.

It is expected that a decision will be made within a few days. The attitude of the army is still an important factor, perhaps the most important.
