1792. Your 2118, June 26, 9 p.m. We desire you to call upon the Italian Ambassador and to say to him that you have informed your Government of the conversation of this afternoon. You should further state that for purposes of clarification you desire to know whether his remarks were made with the knowledge of the Italian and German Governments, and also whether he understands that the Italian Government desires the United States to take any action in the sense of his remarks.
